This online textile dictionary gives a brief overview of different types of cloth. I found it useful to find the modern term for cloth mentioned in an old book. Same here Gerry. I only actually found out about them yesterday through a Gentleman's Gazette video I was watching. I think the video was called "how to beat the heat in style"? Anyway, in one of the skits they do,  one of the hosts was holding a bunch/sample book that had these seersuckers and linens. It's a pretty good video to watch in general IMO.
