Hello All!
Aside from Rory Duffy's video series on YouTube, is there any other pro level video series out there?
Tailor Manabe videos on YouTube. Some of his work is overdone, tedious and complicated but I learned a few new things. Videos of every step from cutting, construction and pressing a jacket. Just video, no verbal instruction.
Depends what you're after and why you want to watch them. Of course there are the videos recommenced by Despos also there are the 'Tailors Tips' from Vitale Barberis Canonico, there is the 'English Cut' from Tom Mahon, he also has a great lecture on YouTube he did for Liverpool John Moores University. As I say it all depends on what you're after, do a search on YouTube and you'll find most of the information you want albeit a bit disjointed. Of coarse Rory's series is one of the best. And of course Rory runs online courses covering all aspects of tailoring.
Does anyone remember some videos by a German tailor, i dont think there was any talking, and he was drafting and making a waistcoat in one video, and in another a pair of trousers.
Hers is his full playlist.

Great Jeffery, been trying to remember that one. Thanks.
Thanks!

Bias Bespoke has created a few videos on YouTube.

Ah, the German videos look interesting - Covid has me spending waaaaay too much time on youtube!
I also found "The Yorkshire Tailor" on Youtube great. (Is he a member here?) I particularly liked how well one could follow his manipulation of the fabric when padstitching the undercollar.
Just watch a couple of clips. Very talented.
Thanks!

Just found several videos from Lee Marsh.
He goes into much detail re: canvassing the front when working with light weight fabrics amongst other things. As much as I like to learn things, watching someone tailor can be a bit dry. Lee has a delightful accent that keeps my mind from wandering....yeh? ;)
Have you got the links?
Have you seen those by atelier saison?
this is a serial about sewing a jacket from cut to finish. You even can get the pattern
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cvwv4Wzr-w
they are not into hand sewing - But I like their precise way of sewing.

That's cool. I have watched some of their output.
She has a very steady hand with the machine.
Excelent sewist! The one with the sleeve vent was a little too much for me; I was mentally trying to help her, say. But they are great videos. I do have to turn the sound off...
Sorry Tom (and others), I have yet to learn how to use my phone in split screen so can't post link.
Just go to Youtube and search, "Tailor Lee Marsh", and they all pop up.
Spookietoo, I didn't even know that that was possible on an Iphone...
Yep done that, looks good, I see he a new channel, I imagine he could do with the subscribers.
Hendrick - I actually have an older Android that's newish to me -Galaxy 7. I've somehow stumbled into the split screen several times, but have no idea how.
Thankyou for telling me you didn't know it could be done - makes me feel better! ::)
I don't know if this is the right thread since it is only shirtmaking, but the youtube algorithm brought me to the following video. It shows the construction of a Turnbull&Asser shirt in some detail (ignore the fact that I think the finished shirt doesn't look that good ;))
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukHS2bDPtiw
I'll need to save this for viewing tonight.
But agree with the comment on the "finished shirt." Maybe their irons were all broken at the same time? Cause even though the entire shirt needs a press - those cuffs look like they've never been touched by an iron. How very weird.
I don't fancy the cuffs too much either... My guess is that someone else made that collar? Best part however is something else alltogether. At one point in the video the lay with the spectacles' voice reminded me of Eric Idle doing Brian's mum in Monty Python's "Life of Brian" and, oh well, it just would'nt go away anymore
I will add these to my playlist. Thanks.

Hendrick - good catch on the collar - I hadn't noticed it. And I also think I see a bit of a poor press on the front placket......
This is reminding me of my youth. Quickly grabbing the shirt from the ironing board : collar, cuffs, and mid front of shirt pressed, slipping my jacket on as I run out the door, and reminding myself that I can't remove my jacket all day long because my shirt wasn't actually ironed......yep that pressing job is now looking familiar... :-\
T&A Shirt:
That is not "bespoke". There was never a fitting - it is MTM. The bust lacks width (and length; the guy is always pulling it down). The stand of the collar is too high for his neck , the cuffs..... sigh..... maybe James Bond had other proportions? The ironing: It comes out of the parcel so it will look that way.
But did you notice the sales man? What a bad fitting jacket (the union jack lining did not make it better) the tie?

Thanks posaune, thats exactly what I thought.
Although very cringy to watch, I'm afraid that is the bespoke process with Turnbull & Asser.

I would also think, that the cuff as a whole looks rather massive - which seems to be exaggerated by a very loose and sloppy looking sleeve.
There is also a rather devastating critique of their process on this blog:

Rory Duffy came out with a 23-hour coat making course about a week ago. You subscribe by the month. It's pretty intense but if you have done any tailoring you should be able to follow it. It's more affordable than his one-on-one courses, although they'd be nice to take one day.

Anyone else wondering if this thread was responsible for the T&A shirt video being removed?
Things that make you go, "Hmmmmm......"
One more fine example of "marketing comes before product"...
Hi all, new here!
Not sure if this channel has been posted yet, but well worth subscribing to as more videos are due. Amazing info.

Looks very interesting Gerry.
Thanks Gerry! A new "series" on Youtube that isn't BBC/ITV murder and mayhem. (I'm so addicted to the murder and mayhem, I'm beginning to question any possible effects on my psyche.)

In the last episode he goes beserk with a pair of shears. So a 2 for 1 (you'll love the bloodfest!)
If any of you are wondering what the Pagoda collar is, there are pics here (scroll down, in particular):

And a good interview with him here:

I like his attitude. Saville Row trained, so aware of tradition, but not afraid to challenge conventional wisdom.

I feel the exact some way. I've only recently discovered his videos and been really enjoying his content. I hope to start making videos in the near future as well.
The humour is that with a big pair of shears, rather than try and use them as a stabbing weapon, they are heavy enough to beat someone's brains out. Truly a waste of a good pair of shears when you could use something far more mundane to do terminal damage to another human being. 😊😉
I watched the video explaining darts and how to visualize in 3D. I think he is interesting and obviously has a passion for what he is doing. I like that he is trying to explain what is often taken for granted or worse, never properly understood in the first place by most instructors.
here the link to Lee Marsh's youtube channel.
He created them in the first lockdown and I think they are really great in content

the videos of our member Thom Bennett ara also very instructive!!! Hope hw will do more of these videos in the future!!!!

I stumbled across this old series the other day by Savile Row trained tailor Jo Baker Waters. Keep loading the vids and eventually you get to the beginning of a series covering coat ('box jacket') construction. I've only watched the first few, which cover cutting/striking out, but already some very good info.

This series of vids is excellent. The completion of a Morning Coat from start to finish, using traditional tailoring methods. The pace is just right and all the info is there. If the numerical order appears jumbled, 'sort by' oldest first:

Edit: just realised there's a playlist:

Thank you all for the suggestions.
