Short jacket with side vents kicking - pattern help
« on: December 21, 2019, 02:05:36 AM »
My apologies if this is the wrong place to post.

Not a great deal if information to work with certainly but i've an existing gents short jacket pattern with a double vented back - i've attached an image of the pattern i'm using.

Front, chest, shoulders, around the arm all sit well but the vents are kicking terribly regardless of size. I was just wondering if anyone could see anything based simply from the attached - i'm thinking the angle of the side panel into the back is incorrect (as i think it's only angling in at around 3 degrees), what angle would you all typically work with?

Very much appreciate any assistance.

Itīs hard to say without seeing the kicking vent. Your pattern lacks the chest, waist and hip line, so itīs difficult to interpret.
Wich angle do you mean? Can you mark it in the sketch? Usually pattern systems donīt work with angles. Does yourīs?

When you baste the vents closed for fitting, the issues and stressed lines will be more obvious.
