There was a set of elastics included see the colored stripes on the pics. The flexibility of the ruler is a big plus and you can measure many things because you can angle it. Form per example with two right angles you can measure crotch diameter or armhole diameter relatively easy. These depth measurement which normally not easy to take

With my honest opinion, I think it very helpful for measuring crotch width and depth for those people not able to buy off the rack slacks.  This tool can also be use for armhole depth and most important arm width for tailored jackets
