Gimp recognition question.

I salvaged these three rolls from a box of old thread from the stuff I bought from Peter Argy and while I am familiar with single strand gimp that was used on buttons on coats, these are marked as button hole thread and they come with 6 strands on the roll. I don't think Peter ever made hand made buttonholes and there is a good change that these were leftovers from his father who was a tailor before him. Is there anyone who has ever seen this stuff ?

Twist is not gimp.
Are they cut to length? Ready to pull six off at a time?

Yes, we used to get silk buttonhole thread like that at work. Its so long ago now I wouldnt know the source
