Testing Balance

I had not seen this before and I am curious as to whether any of these methods correspond to the final patterns that I am currently working on that I know are correct (because I have had fittings)

I wonder if it works primarily with normal figures.

So next week if I have a moment, I will try it. Personally I find taking a balance measure on the figure gives me the best results.
