Title: Has anyone ever used/heard of the Guggenhein IX 9” Tailor Shears?

This company claims to make a very good pair of tailor's shears I was wondering if anyone has used them? Thanks!

You can find them at URL https://guggenhein.com/home

They are cheap enough to buy a pair to see what they work like. At 9 inches, they are really trimmers and I have seen the identical pattern from other places.

Certainly tempting at that price...

I just ordered a pair, will let you know but frankly this look too good to be true.

I personally love my Sheffield made Ernest Wright shears, but I shamefully admit that I prefer the 10" to the 12"...

In other news, I bought a pair of "Sharpist" scissors in fashionable matte black to fine cut jersey and I must admit that these are fantastic, so if you are looking at something light and handleable, I can truly reccomend them...

I am in no way commercially attached to the companies mentioned above!

Cheers, Hendrick

I notice that the "sale ends in" countdown timer resets each time you visit, so that's a bit shady...

Let's hope the timer is not symbolic fot the durability of the product...

The price says they are Chinese made and you can find more or less identical ones on eBay for about the same price from Hong Kong. I bought 2 pairs of scissors from eBay that were made in Pakistan and when sharpened properly work fine. I modified the tips on one pair for a friend and keep the other pair in my workshop for general purpose cutting. I think they cost me about $15.00 AUD each.

I use Chinese shears exclusively (mostly because of price & at amateur level) - I presume that as Chinese needs shears for their industry, they must know something about them. Of course, I am not speaking about top quality shears, about which I know very little (and against hutch nothing at all).

There is only one rule, if they do the job, they do the job. If you like the ones you use, there is no real reason to change them.
