Interesting video, I have seen some shears that were probably made that way. I was interested in the technique used to grind the blades, looked like old school skill based methods. The steel castings were better than I expected but the video did not show any hardening or tempering. The source or recycled steel was an interesting one, probably a higher carbon steel from left over industrial sources.

I guess these shears are relatively inexpensive and therefore easily replaced (or sharpened) when blunt. Part of me would love a pair, but then I think of the non-existent health and safety practices I'd be endorsing. Especially the bit where molten metal dribbles within inches of a guy's open-toed sandals.  :o

in middle school we did similar with aluminum.
