Hi everyone,
I wasn't sure if this was the correct area to post this but I'm hoping it is. I'm 24 years old and for as long as I can remember I've loved men's fashion, specifically suits. While all of my friends have been frantically seeking out the next big job opportunity and how to make as much money as possible, I'm really just looking to do something I love (and hopefully be able to support my family while doing it). I decided to join the Savile Row Academy and begin to learn this craft that I've come to admire and respect so much.
I've been looking online for a while to try to find a position as an apprentice but to no avail. Most of the people I've spoken to have said that the best way is to just walk into a firm in my area and ask to work, to do whatever I can, even cleaning, just to get my foot in the door. I'm currently living in NYC (Queens) and was hoping that someone here can point me in the direction of a master tailor that I'd be able to learn from, in any way. I'd even work for free, I really just want to further expand my knowledge of this art and continue to build upon my foundation. I've also heard that the number of bespoke tailors in New York has been diminishing over the years so I was hoping someone on this forum could help point me in the right direction.
Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I told my kids when they feelin' lost, go find where the old people are, ask permission to sit down. Iff given, do so and do what you;'re told. Old folks made it there by living and surviving and learning life lessons. Reach out, couldn't hurt, may find more than you'd imagine.
