I have also read his other book (The Theory of Garment Pattern Making), and it's great: it helped me learn a lot of the theory & nerdy noodly concepts behind pattern cutting. It's probably not what I'd call an essential book -there are probably more modern & complete ones  - but I do feel like a much, much better maker for having read it. For example, discussing the importance of taking measurements from fixed points rather than vague ones; learning about why armscye placement is calculated the way it is; and so on.

Theory can be bought for fairly cheap, from a reproduction company.

Loved it so much I bought a (rather expensive) second hand copy of this one, & hoped to bring it back into print/make it available online. This book is less essential, but I appreciate my copy & am glad to see it's been made available here.
