Current state of fabric retail in New York City?

Greetings, all.  I will be spending a few days in northern New Jersey later this week and possibly an afternoon in Manhattan.  While I'm there I'd like to visit at least one fabric store.

Several threads on this forum have mentioned fabric sources in New York City.  Most are at least a few years old.  Should I consider them still to be reliable and accurate?  My understanding is that the retail landscape there has changed dramatically over the past decade and continues to do so.

Can anybody familiar with the area recommend a current favorite store?  My only planned purchase is a few yards of worsted (nothing special, just something suitable for learning/practice if I can find it at a reasonable price).
