Interesting way of making pockets

I was looking back at a few older tailoring videos and stumbled upon this one from Emil Fusaro. What interested me with this video was the way he did the piping/jetting for the pockets. I've never seen this method done before.

Lots of old tricks disappear with old people dying off.
Wish they used lighter cloth. Dark is hard to see the details.

Never saw this for a jacket. I was never allowed to press over a pocket flap without covering the part under it; with this amount of steam it will make "quite an impression"...

I've always made the jettings by taking two strips of cloth and stitching them around the pocket, then cut the mouth and pull them in. Stitching it on the flap though is something I may try out.

Hand sewing is a more flexible stitch than machine. Flexible means it will bend around the hip easier. Machine is more resistant to curving around the body.
